Our longstanding Chair, Martin Havenhand, is leaving the Trust having provided successful and sustained leadership over 9 years.  We are seeking a progressive, values-driven and inspiring Chair to lead our inclusive and experienced Board and our dedicated Council of Governors. Welcome to our Trust

Dear Candidate

Thank you for choosing to find out more about this exciting opportunity to lead the Board and Council of Governors at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust as our new Chair.

We are an innovative, combined acute and community provider, delivering a range of healthcare services to people in Rotherham and across South Yorkshire. We are ambitious about our future, about improving patient outcomes, and about the part that we play in meeting the health and social care needs of our local community, and the wider region. We serve a diverse population of over 270,000 people in the Rotherham area, in impressive facilities at Rotherham Hospital, as well as community-based sites, and directly in patients’ homes.

Over the last six years, we have transformed our performance and confidence. We are proud of our staff who live our open and empowering culture; all our patients, visitors, and partners receive a warm welcome. With our refreshed strategy ‘our new journey, together’, we are continuing our successful journey of improvement in the services provided by our dedicated teams, and building a healthier future for our communities as we seek to reduce the health inequalities that we know exist within our populations. Like other health and care providers we face challenges, but we are well positioned through our positive relationships with partners in Barnsley Hospital, the Rotherham ICP and wider South Yorkshire ICS, to build a healthier future for our population, and deliver high quality and safe care, every time.

Our Chair, Martin Havenhand, is leaving the Trust after a successful tenure of over 9 years and we are now seeking to appoint a new Chair to lead our established and high-performing Unitary Board and Council of Governors. Our new Chair will work closely with our exceptional and highly respected Chief Executive, Dr Richard Jenkins who is the joint Chief Executive with Barnsley Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for an inspiring, ambitious, and creative leader to join our Trust and provide vision as we aim to become an ‘Outstanding’ organisation. Our new Chair will also play an important role in building productive and progressive relationships with our partners and stakeholders across the health and care landscape.

We are keen to hear from compassionate leaders who share our commitment to improving health and care services in Rotherham and who bring significant Board level experience gained in complex, changing and multi-stakeholder environments with significant exposure and insight into healthcare. Passionate about patient outcomes you will provide inspiration to our Board, Governors, Staff and partners demonstrating the highest levels of integrity and upholding robust corporate governance standards.

This rewarding and challenging role offers a significant opportunity to bring your skills and experience to influence the future wellbeing of our patients, staff, and our communities.   We are keen to welcome applications from leaders who are committed to inclusion, and we value the different lived experience of all of our Board members.  If you are interested to find out more, please do read further on this microsite and contact our recruitment partners at GatenbySanderson: Emily Perry, Niamh Blair or Emma Pickup at GatenbySanderson on 07538 979 416 to discuss your interest.

We look forward to meeting you during the process.
