Non-Executive Director and Associate Non-Executive Director recruitment

Welcome from the Chair

Dear Candidate

Thank you for your interest in The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, and these fantastic opportunities to join our Board as a Non-Executive Director or Associate Non-Executive Director.

As an anchor institution providing acute healthcare for around 270,000 people in the Rotherham area, this is a diverse and welcoming Trust. We are a key member of the Rotherham Place Partnership and the South Yorkshire Integrated Care System, and we work closely with Sheffield University Medical School and Sheffield Hallam University to train and recruit the future NHS workforce.  Since joining the Board as its Chair last year, I have been continually inspired by the dedication and ambition of our people; our staff, Governors, and volunteers. We have achieved a lot and I believe we have the talent, the aspiration, and potential to go much further.

We are immensely proud of the commitment of our people to ensuring a strong and sustainable future for our organisation, which is highly valued by our local communities. We want all of our people to be proud to work in a compassionate and inclusive organisation that delivers excellent healthcare for our patients, and our progress has been reflected in our latest NHS Staff Survey.

We are now seeking to appoint a values-driven and inspiring Non-Executive Director and Associate Non-Executive Director to our inclusive and dynamic Board. These are exciting opportunities and we are seeking outstanding individuals to join us and share your talents to make a positive difference to the wellbeing of our communities and staff.  You will work with our ambitious Board and Council of Governors to provide scrutiny, support, and challenge as we continue to build further on our successful improvement journey and deliver holistic care.

These roles require exceptional strategic leaders with Board level or equivalent experience gained in complex, changing, and multi-stakeholder environments either in the private, public, or third sector. To balance the experience already on our Board, we are particularly interested in candidates with experience in strategic financial leadership, partnership working, community or social care, and/or digital transformation. However, these are not essential, and we welcome applications from candidates with a wide range of skills and sector experience.

Whilst previous Non-Executive Director experience is not essential, significant transformational leadership experience at scale will allow you to quickly add impact and value to our agenda.  Our Associate Non-Executive Director will add additional depth of insight and experience to our Board, and this is an opportunity for aspiring non-executives or individuals who may not have the time available for a full non-executive commitment.   For both roles we warmly welcome and encourage applications from candidates with protected characteristics, and value the lived experience of everyone on our Board.

I hope you will take the opportunity to read more about our work through this website. I would also like to invite you to join me, Dr Richard Jenkins, our CEO, and other colleagues and Governors, at a webinar held 17:30 – 19:00 on Tuesday 4th November. If you are interested in joining the webinar, please register here: TRFT NED – Webinar Sign Up Form
